Murder and violence

R v A & Others (2019) – We represented two of eleven defendants involved in a multi-handed case of serious mass public disorder and conspiracy to cause GBH, which, if convicted, would have resulted in an immediate custodial sentence of double-figures. The Prosecution case was that the incident arose in the context of gangland disputes over territory and inter-gang rivalries. Following our submissions, no evidence was offered on the conspiracy charge and avoided imprisonment.

R v W (2019) – The Defendant was charged with the new offence of assault on an emergency worker, following a CCTV captured punch to a police officer’s face during a search. We made a successful application to dismiss submitting that the officer had acted unlawfully at the time.

R v H (2019) – We represented one of three defendants who were alleged to have carried out a knife-point robbery in a residential property before using a stolen bank card in a nearby shop. Our client was found not guilty of robbery, theft, and possession of a bladed article.

R v F & Others (2014) – We represented one of five defendants charged with joint enterprise murder. This case involved a group of schoolboys who had gone as spectators to a fight. It was considered by the learned Judge to be on the very cusp of joint enterprise and was the subject of two half-time submissions that were unsuccessful. The jury acquitted four of the five defendants.

R v L & Others (2014) – We represented one of three defendants charged with murder and supply of Class A drugs. The defendant was part of a group involved in a gangland assassination of a rival competitor.

R v K (2012) – We represented one defendant for attempted murder following the stabbing of another to the chest and successfully had the charge reduced to one of GBH without intent.
